Instructions for maintenance and cleaning

Wood is a natural living material that is always trying to adjust to conditions in space. You should cultivate and maintain your wood flooring in an appropriate manner. Changes in temperature and relative humidity can lead to shrinking or swelling of wood. Maintaining wooden flooring includes the protection of the final coating from scratches and maintaining adequate climatic conditions in the area. If you want to have beautiful and resilient flooring, you must comply with the following key rules.

Protection of the final coating from scratch:

Use your parquet very carefully for the first two weeks after refinishing. Use quality mats to prevent the entry of sand into the room with the flooring. During the initial period after the installation of flooring, avoid putting carpets or other floor coverings in order to avoid differences in the oxidation and discoloration of wood. Place your furniture carefully one week after coating (you may not drag but lift it up and move it), and lay the carpets one month after setting up the parquet floor. We recommend that you stick protective pads to the legs of chairs, tables and objects that move, and use special soft rubber for chairs with wheels. For the first month we do not recommend cleaning the parquet with water and detergents. During this period we also do not recommend walking in shoes with high heels across the varnished floor. You can start cleaning the floor four weeks after varnishing. Clean the parquet with a vacuum cleaner (vacuum pipe must not be rough on the bottom) or with a soft cloth. In case you spill water or any other liquid remove it immediately. Stains from coffee, red wine or ketchup should be removed immediately so it would not have left a lasting impact. If your parquet floor is very dirty you should clean it by hand with a cloth. Do not use a wet cloth from which water cap because it can damage the flooring (flooring can swell).

We do not recommend scrubbing floors with rough brushers or cleaning with strong and harsh detergents (may damage the lacquer, while moisture and dust could penetrate the wood).

You can extend the lacquer lifetime if you occasionally coat it with the emulsion of wax or with similar means for care flooring. In a busy room with a narrow band (corridors, stairways), and in the areas where you walk in dirty and wet shoes, we recommend that you use appropriate mats. Carpets should be periodically removed or come to terms with the fact that the floor area under the carpet will be lighter than other flooring. In fact, under the influence of ultraviolet light the wood color changes. If you have floor heating in your home, it is an important fact which flooring was installed, and whether the instructions on the gradual increase in temperature were respected.

Keep the room temperature between 18 and 22 º C.

Relative humidity is to be maintained between 45% and 60%. During the winter period, i.e. heating season, it is necessary to control the relative humidity of the space and the space requires use of humidifiers to maintain the desired level of relative humidity. It is necessary to prevent the exposure of flooring to direct influence of the sunlight. For regular cleaning, use a vacuum cleaner or special cloths that collect dirt. Maintain your flooring with a dry or well-drained cloth or with means provided for cleaning. The choice of cleaning and maintenance of flooring depends on the type of finished flooring. You should be aware that small cracks cannot be completely avoided even if you respect all instructions, because wood is a natural material, alive, and that you can never completely overcome.
